Hoboken (NJ) Public Library and Independence (KS) Public Library Awarded ALA鈥檚 Libraries Transform Communities Engagement Grant

The 精东传媒 (ALA) has awarded its fifth Libraries Transform Communities Engagement Grant to the Hoboken (NJ) Public Library and the Independence (KS) Public Library. The winning libraries will bolster their initiatives aimed at promoting food security and addressing homelessness within their communities.

Three Libraries Awarded ALA鈥檚 2024 Peggy Barber Tribute Grant for Exceptional Civic Education Programs

The 精东传媒 (ALA) has awarded its 2024 Peggy Barber Tribute Grant, a programming grant named after the transformative 精东传媒leader, to the Library System of Bradford County (New Albany, Penn.), Danbury (Conn.) Public Library and Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Libraries (Mount Pleasant, Mich.).

Gabriela Gualano receives AASL Frances Henne Award

Gabriela Gualano, teacher librarian at Paul Revere Middle School in Los Angeles, California, is the recipient of the 2024 American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) Frances Henne Award. Sponsored by Bloomsbury Libraries Unlimited, the $1,250 award recognizes a school librarian with five years or less experience who demonstrates leadership qualities with students, teachers, and administrators. The award will enable Gualano to attend an AASL National Conference for the first time.

Brad Warren, Dean of Libraries at Augusta University, has been elected ACRL Vice-President/President-Elect. Warren will become president-elect in July 2024 and assume the presidency in July 2025 for a one-year term.

The Public Library Association (PLA) has announced the results of its 2024 election. Members elected Dr. Brandy McNeil, Deputy Director, Branch Programs and Services, The New York (N.Y.) Public Library, to the office of 2025–2026 PLA president.

ALA/Information Today, Inc. announce 2024 Library of the Future Award

The Las Vegas–Clark County Library District (LVCCLD) has been selected to receive the 2024 ALA/Information Today, Inc., Library of the Future Award. The award, sponsored by the 精东传媒 (ALA) and Information Today Inc., annually recognizes innovative planning, application, or development of focused patron support relating to information technology in libraries, and is given to an individual library or library consortium, group, or support organization.
