Liladhar Pendse received a 2007 Spectrum Doctoral Fellowship and is pursuing his degree at the University of California Los Angeles. Liladhar holds an MA in Latin American Studies from the

University of California, Los Angeles; a BA in History & Minor in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles; a M.D. from Minsk State Medical Institute; a Certificate in Gerontology from the University of California, Los Angeles; and a Russian Language Teaching Certification from Minsk State Medical Institute.

As a person who has emigrated from India and is now a naturalized US citizen, Liladhar faced many non-academic obstacles in his journey towards academic achievement. These barriers notwithstanding, he's constantly felt a need to study and impart learned skills to the benefit of society. Liladhar believes that a doctorate in Information Studies will grant him an opportunity to evolve academically as well as professionally. His research interests focus on Information Culture in the Developing World. He strongly believes that the ultimate goal of serving the user community and also various linguistically and materially disadvantaged users can be fulfilled effectively by achieving the doctorate.
