Noah's Ark

by Peter Spier, and published by Doubleday

The book cover of "Noah's Ark" by Peter Spier features the ark with a line of laundry flapping on the roof, where pigs and a goat wander, a peacock preens and storks nest. Flamingos, gulls and other birds fly around, and in the water, flying fish, swans, ducks, geese, dolphins, and porpoises cavort. Up on deck, elephants lean over the side to squirt water with their trunks. Camels, giraffes, rhinos and a lion watch the fun. The Randolph Caldecott Medal Seal has been affixed toward the lower right corner.

About

¾«¶«´«Ã½

In Noah's Ark, the artist takes as his text his own translation of a seventeenth-century Dutch poem. Pictures of extraordinary vitality retell the familiar Bible story. The paintings abound with movement and life--soft pastel colors, muted when the world is cloudy, and bright as the rainbow when sunshine returns.
