Library Scholarships: The following are a list of scholarships offered to students wishing to pursue a career in librarianship or information technology.

The purpose of the American Indian Library Association Scholarship is to provide tuition to an American Indian individual who lives and works in the American Indian community, and who is enrolled, or has been accepted and will enroll, in a graduate program in library and/or information science accredited by the ¾«¶«´«Ã½.

The Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA), Library Service to Special Populations Section and the Library Service to People with Visual or Physical Disabilities Forum established the Century Scholarship to recruit people with disabilities into the library profession. The Century Scholarship is designed to bring diversity into the library profession to reflect the diversity of the communities library professionals serve. The annual $2500 scholarship will fund services or accommodations for a library school student or students with disabilities admitted to an ALA-accredited library school.

The Turock Spectrum Scholarship, in the amount of $5000, is an ¾«¶«´«Ã½ general scholarship awarded to a member of a principal minority group in an ALA-accredited program. The recipient must be a US or Canadian citizen, or permanent resident.

The E.J. Josey Scholarships are two (2) unrestricted grants of $2000 awarded annually by the Black Caucus of the ¾«¶«´«Ã½ to African American students enrolled in, or accepted by, ALA-accredited programs.

The LITA/LSSI Minority Scholarship, is awarded annually by the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA), a division of the ¾«¶«´«Ã½, and Library Systems and Services, Inc. (LSSI). The scholarship, in the amount of $2500, is designed to encourage the entry of qualified American Indian or Alaskan native, Asian or Pacific Islander, African-American, or Hispanic students who are US or Canadian citizens into the library and automation field.

Awarded jointly by OCLC, Inc. and the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA), a division of the ¾«¶«´«Ã½, the LITA/OCLC Minority Scholarship is designed to encourage the entry of American Indian or Alaskan native, Asian or Pacific Islander, African-American, or Hispanic students into the library and automation field. This annual scholarship, in the amount of $3000, is offered to qualified applicants who are US or Canadian citizens.

The REFORMA Scholarship provides financial assistance to encourage and enable Spanish speakers to pursue or advance a career in library and information science as part of REFORMA's mission to support the active recruitment of bilingual and bicultural librarians to meet the information needs of the Spanish-speaking community. This annual award ($2000 minimum) is open to citizens and permanent residents of the US who are Spanish-speakers and who wish to pursue graduate study in the field of Library and Information Science.

The Chinese ¾«¶«´«Ã½ (CALA) offers several scholarship opportunities which are designed to encourage professional and leadership development in Chinese American librarianship. They are open to full-time students of Chinese heritage who are currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited master's or doctoral program of library and information science at an institution of higher education in North America (with the exception of The Huang Tso-ping and Wu Yao-yu Research and Scholarship).

The Spectrum Initiative seeks to recruit applicants and award scholarships to African American, Latino/Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander and Native American/Alaskan Native students for graduate programs in library and information studies. The ¾«¶«´«Ã½ has committed resources for 50 annual scholarships of $5000 a year for the Initiative's first four years. The purpose of the Spectrum Initiative is to improve service at the local level through the development of a representatively diverse workforce that reflects the communities served by all libraries.
