Quiz promotes Banned Books Week, Sept. 21-27

Which banned book are you?

CHICAGO — Take the new online quiz and find out which banned or challenged book best fits your personality. Developed by librarians at Columbus State Community College (CSCC) in Ohio, the quiz was created to celebrate Banned Books Week and the freedom to read and the right to choose reading materials without restriction.

During this year’s , taking place now through Sept, 27, thousands around the U.S. and the world will participate in special online and local events and exhibits focused on the dangers of censorship. In addition to the quiz, the public is also invited to read from their favorite banned book by participating in the popular on .

CSCC is one of seven recipients of grants from the ’s Judith F. Krug Memorial Fund. The Krug Fund was created in 2009 following the death of FTRF’s founding executive director. To date it has given over $30,000 in support to libraries, schools and other organizations in support of original Banned Books Week activities.

First observed in 1982, Banned Books Week reminds Americans not to take the freedom to read for granted.

Banned Books Week is sponsored by the American Booksellers Association, American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, ý, American Society of Journalists and Authors, Association of American Publishers, Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, Freedom to Read Foundation, National Association of College Stores, National Coalition Against Censorship, National Council of Teachers of English, PEN American Center, People For the American Way and Project Censored.
