CHICAGO — The Public Library Association (PLA) is seeking member volunteers for the 2023—2024 service term. Volunteering for a committee or advisory group is one pathway for members to expand their professional development and make an impact in the public library field. Member volunteers help select conference programs, develop the annual survey, plan the Public Libraries magazine’s editorial calendar, and more. A complete list of opportunities is available with a wide range of opportunities. All PLA members are encouraged to apply.

To be considered for the 2023—2024 service term, please complete the Committee Volunteer Form by Friday, February 17, 2023. PLA membership and an ¾«¶«´«Ã½login is required. The PLA president-elect will make selections for the committees and advisory group in the spring and applicants will be notified by June 2023.

This term, PLA has a new volunteer opportunity for members to serve as reviewers for current or future PLA grant and/or scholarship applications. If interested, select PLA Grant/Scholarship Reviewer Pool when completing the volunteer form.

Please note that PLA is not able to accommodate all volunteer requests; however, PLA will keep name and committee preferences for two years to allow for two rounds of committee appointments. Please contact pla@ala.org with any questions.
