Preconference registration opens for Core Forum

CHICAGO—Even before the 2022 Core Forum officially kicks off with an evening welcome reception on Thursday, October 13, attendees can register to participate in one of three all-day library buildings tours or one of three workshops offered that same day. Full preconference descriptions, presenters, and registration rates can be found at .

Preconference options on Thursday, October 13, include:

  • Salt Lake City Public Library and Salt Lake County Library + Family History Tour (8:30 am – 3:30 pm)
  • University of Utah Library Tours: J.W. Marriott Library and Faust Law Library (8:30 am – 3:00 pm)
  • The New and Official RDA Toolkit: A Practical Approach (1:00 pm – 4:00) presented by Thomas Brenndorfer, Kathy Glennan, Robert L. Maxwell, Honor Moody, and Melanie Polutta
  • Building Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (EDI) Capacity (9:00 am – 4:00 pm) presented by Anthony Wilson, Alison Spehar, Andrea Villanueva, and Deanna Romriell
  • Prioritizing Privacy: Bringing Library Values to Campus Learning Analytics Work (12:00 pm – 3:00)

If you have already registered for Core Forum, and would like to add a preconference to your existing Core Forum registration, please write to Core staff at core@ala.org for assistance. Advance registration for workshops is recommended. Onsite registration will be allowed pending availability.

The Core Forum is the inaugural flagship event for ALA’s newest division, Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures. It will bring together decision-makers and practitioners from Core's specializations:

  • Access & Equity
  • Assessment
  • Buildings & Operations
  • Leadership & Management
  • Metadata & Collections
  • Technology

The program tracks, dine-arounds, and discussions will be structured around these six topics, particularly the ways in which they integrate together.
