Create More Effective Policies and Procedures with this Core Webinar

Writing effective policies and procedures is the key to many aspects of successful library management. In this webinar, we will discuss approaches to writing policies and procedures that promote positive relationships with your library’s patrons and community.

Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, and Futures, a new division of ALA, will present the webinar “Creating Effective Policies and Procedures,” on Tuesday, December 8, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Central Time.

This webinar will present the important attributes of strong policies and procedures, the steps for creating and maintaining these documents, and resources that can help with the process. Participants will leave with the tools needed to write new documents and a checklist for evaluating and updating existing policies and procedures.

In this webinar, attendees will learn to:

  • Summarize the keys to effective policies and procedures
  • Create an effective workflow for creating new policies and procedures
  • Evaluate existing policies and procedures
  • Develop strategies for introducing new policies and procedures to library staff and the larger library community

Who should attend: Library professionals in charge of creating and revising policies and procedures, particularly managers and directors.

Presenter:

Carli Spina is an Associate Professor and the Head of Research & Instructional Services at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She holds a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, an MLIS from Simmons GSLIS, and an M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has extensive experience teaching, publishing, and working on projects related to management, inclusion, accessibility, Universal Design, user experience, and technology.
