Wednesday, May 20, 1:30-3 p.m. Central: “Burnout Prevention and Mitigation: The Role of Values, Communication, and Job Crafting”

In our fast-paced libraries, workplace burnout almost feels like an inevitability. While we have no magic bullet to prevent or immediately banish it, burnout can be effectively minimized and prevented via recognition, skilled communication, job crafting, and building alignment between each employee’s work and values. Library administrators as well as those not in supervisory roles can have meaningful results using this approach.

Learning outcomes:

  • What burnout is and how to recognize it in oneself and others
  • How to apply values exploration to respond to and prevent burnout
  • How to apply job crafting techniques to respond to and prevent burnout
  • How to foster a culture of trust and autonomy in your workplace as a leader or administrator

This webinar addresses several of LLAMA's Foundational Leadership Competencies including: communication skills, problem solving, and team building.

Our presenter: Sarah Steiner, Head of Research & Instruction Services, Western Carolina University, Hunter Library, Cullowhee, North Carolina
