¾«¶«´«Ã½ adds LiteracyNation, Inc. to professional affiliate roster

¾«¶«´«Ã½

CHICAGO – The ¾«¶«´«Ã½ is pleased to announce that the ¾«¶«´«Ã½Council approved LiteracyNation, Inc. as an affiliate. The action took place Jan. 29 during LibLearnX: The Library Experience in New Orleans. In 2022, the ¾«¶«´«Ã½Executive Board vetted the application to ensure LiteracyNation’s mission and bylaws aligned with ALA.

“The importance and significance of LiteracyNation joining ¾«¶«´«Ã½as an affiliate is that LiteracyNation will enhance learning and promote library services and ¾«¶«´«Ã½membership by introducing a diverse population of vetted self-published authors to library members within various communities,” said Richard E. Ashby Jr., president and co-founder. “With literacy and justice for all."

LiteracyNation’s purpose is to advance and advocate for diversity and inclusion in books and digital resources in libraries, specifically those written by groups that are underrepresented by mainstream publishing houses and libraries.

The organization has more than 2100 members.
