PHILADELPHIA — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the ¾«¶«´«Ã½ (ALA), announced its 2014 list of Best Fiction for Young Adults (BFYA). This year’s list of 98 books was drawn from 175 official nominations.

The books, recommended for ages 12-18, meet the criteria of both good quality literature and appealing reading for teens. The list comprises a wide range of genres and styles, including contemporary realistic fiction, fantasy, horror, science fiction and novels in verse. The full list can be found at .

The Best Fiction for Young Adults committee also created a Top Ten list of titles from the final list:

“This year’s list has something for everyone. From a middle-grade book about a kid auditioning on Broadway to a young-adult novel about a town infected with murderous rage, the list reflects the wide interests of teen readers,” said BFYA Chair Sarah Townsend. “The committee’s dedication to reading broadly and discussing the merits of each of our 175 nominated titles has produced a list of which we are proud.”
